The executor oversees the administration of your Will. Their main duties involve locating the Will, managing funeral arrangements, obtaining probate to authenticate the Will, listing the deceased's assets and debts, safeguarding the estate, and distributing assets to beneficiaries.
The executor can be a partner, spouse, lawyer, trustee or the person’s adult children. Where you appoint multiple primary executors they will act jointly as the executors of your estate. For example, we often see multiple beneficiaries where a person has more than one child and decides to appoint all their children jointly as the executors of their estate.
